Dance The Word
So Moses made haste and bowed his head
toward the earth,
and worshiped.
                                                        Exodus 34:8

[Jesus Rejoices in the Spirit ] In that hour Jesus
rejoiced in the Spirit
and said, “I thank You,
Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have
hidden these things from the wise and prudent
and revealed them to babes. Even so, Father,
for so it seemed good in Your sight.

                                       Luke 10:21

And when He had removed him, He raised up
for them
David as king, to whom also He gave
testimony
and said, ‘I have found David the son
of Jesse,
a man after My own heart,
who will do all My will.’
                                                         Acts 13:22
The wicked flee when no one pursues,
But the righteous are bold as a lion.

Where Are The Davids?
For some time now, the Lord has placed a
burden on my heart to see real men worship
Him with abandon.

Through much prayer, the Lord has blessed
us with a
Special Edition of Company
Keepers this month featuring an all-male
writing staff!

Be blessed, encouraged and inspired
through the "Menistry."
How many times have you been in a service and a group gets up to
dance-- but you can’t hear the music that they are dancing to, or it's
not of the greatest quality?

This can be extremely frustrating on both the dancer and the observer.
It presents a problem for the dancer because he or she cannot "feel"
the music well enough to be as effective in conveying the message.
Also, the audience cannot properly receive it so that they can fully
understand the message and join the worship experience.
Here are some tips to help enhance your music presentation:
* Matthew A. Pittman is an anointed musician and dance ministry supporter. He tours professionally with world-renowned artists, as well as writes and produces
music for the Lord. He has over 20 years of experience in Music Ministry and Sound Engineering. He is married to Rekesha Pittman, our Editor-in-Chief!
On the subject of praise or worship dance, the average man begins to think of women and/or children. Dance in the
church is often looked upon as being something feminine, childlike or just entertaining and something that men do not
involve themselves in. That very statement is so far from the truth, and I hope this testimony will help our brothers
embrace this wonderful worship experience.

I was introduced to praise dance back in the late 80's through a ministry called the Hush Company. While I was
participating in various concerts, anniversaries and other church celebrations through song, this very powerful dance
ministry was often ministering as well. Their song selection, movement and passion for God was so moving, that all who
were in attendance, through the power of God, began to worship and experience God’s presence like never before. So
impressed with this worship experience, my wife and I asked the Hush Company to dance during our wedding in 1992.
This was the first introduction of praise dance to our church family.

Throughout the years, worship dance has always been something I wanted to fully understand.  I did not know where or
how to start. In the fall of 2003 while talking with friends, the subject of praise dance came up and one of them shared
the idea of a praise dance concert. I immediately suggested my church as a possible place for this event. On Palm
Sunday Weekend of 2004, we hosted our first annual Pre-Easter Praise Dance Concert. God’s presence and power
were so awesome that we were also blessed to host the
Rain Rein Reign Ministries Worship in Dance Conference under
the direction of Sister Rekesha Pittman in the Fall of the same year! It was through this conference that I began to get
an understanding of true worship in dance.

I attended the dance conference as a host representing my church and for technical support. I got much more than I'd
bargained for. It exposed me to God’s expectation of a worshipper- not only in dance, but also in every aspect of our
lives. The Bible declares that God is a Spirit and those that worship Him must do so in spirit and in truth. God has truly
blessed my life as a worshipper and has even opened doors for me to share in workshops presenting such topics as
“Merging Media & Dance Ministry” and “The Effective Dance Ministry.” Our church has been blessed to continue to host
a Pre-Easter Praise Dance Concert every year to bring together not only community of believers, but provide outreach
to our surrounding neighborhood as well. Through this worship in dance experience, we have been able to serve our
community and various ministries throughout the city of Los Angeles.

You may have noticed that I have not mentioned whether or not I dance. At this present time I do not. I am sharing my
experience in hope that some brother somewhere will be encouraged to seek God for understanding and direction.
Worship does not always mean that you will physically dance, but you can be moved to serve through inspiration,
understanding, teaching, instructing and supporting in various areas of dance ministry. Remember that we are one
body with many members. There is always a place for those who love God and are called according to His purpose.

Dance "Menistry" Resources
We are pleased to present to you a few ministry resources by powerful men of God:
Bringing Your Praise
Out The Closet

by Pastor David A. Bullock, Sr.
"But the hour cometh, and now is,
when the true worshiper shall worship
the Father in spirit and in truth:
for the Father seeketh such to worship Him."

                                                                       John 4:23 KJV
It is time for the real men of God to stand up and be counted-- for our true Christian colors to come forth!
The importance for this to take place is simple: to spark the faith of others around us.

When David faced and defeated Goliath it wasn’t for his glory. God allowed this battle to take place to rekindle the faith
of the people of Israel. The same way fear and unbelief was able to grip the children of Israel when faced with
opposition, we have allowed that same spirit to come in and stifle the way men praise. God allowed David not to be
influenced by this spirit by keeping him on the back side of the mountain tending to the sheep, just waiting for the
appointed time to bring him out. We can equate this with the time we spend in our prayer closet.

The time is past due for us to come out of the closet, as Jesus stated in John 4:23,” But the hour cometh and now is…”
That “now is” that Jesus is referring to is the
right now praise that is needed to defeat the enemy. As men of worship, it
is our spiritual responsibility to lead God’s people; to dispel the fear and unbelief that has affected and crippled the
saints of God, and to stand!

Will you hear the clarion call and be a real man of God, without fear of the enemy, stand upright, be counted
and lead God’s people?

WILL THE REAL MEN OF GOD COME OUT OF THE CLOSET AND BRING THEIR PRAISE?

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May His face shine upon you, and give you peace.
Pastor David A. Bullock Sr. is the founder and Pastor of Life and Truth Ministries (www.life-truth.org) in Asheboro, North Carolina.
His wife is the dynamic First Lady, the beautiful Minister Lynn Bullock. Minister Lynn Bullock is a liturgical dancer. They are the
proud parents of three children: Gayle (10), David Jr. (8), and Grace (7). Together, the Lord has used David & Lynn to train several
dance ministries, establish several dance teams, and establish several dance schools in North Carolina. They travel and hold
conferences for the training, equipping, and strengthening of dance ministers throughout the country. They have also hosted
conferences on Marriage Enrichment.

Pastor Bullock’s ministry main goal is to “Meet the needs of the people- no matter what it is.” He trains his flock, not only in Biblical
truth, but also in how to apply this truth to everyday life so that they can be successful, victorious believers, all to the glory of God.

Can You Hear Me Now?
by Matthew A. Pittman

1) Be sure to have the best copy of your song to begin with.
Whether it is on a CD, Cassette, iPod or MP3 player- have a backup just in case. Be certain that your CD will
play in older players and try to have just your music track on it. Remember- you can’t make gold with lead...

2) Check with the sound technician AHEAD OF TIME to find out what media they can play.
It is also a good practice to arrive early enough to talk to the sound person (NOT right before you dance).
This will make things much smoother for everyone.

3) Label your music.
The last thing you want is for you or the sound tech to have to search through a stack of CDs or tapes wondering,
 “Is this it?”

4) Be prepared for anything.
The more prepared you are in the beginning, the less you’ll look like a deer in the headlights when something goes
wrong. Even if the music malfunctions, remember that worship is the priority! Hide His Word in your heart.

Proper preparation will help you to get the message of your dance ministry across more effectively. Be blessed as you
live and move in Him!

Derek L. Johnson
* Derek L. Johnson serves as Minister of Music for New Testament Church in Los Angeles, CA. He is a faithful dance ministry supporter and has been
requested to teach at dance conferences and workshops. As a devoted husband and father, dance ministry  is embraced by his family as well. Derek
primarily serves in various areas of music ministry, and has managed gospel artists including the L.A. Mass Choir.
Then David danced before the LORD with all his might...
From a young boy I have always enjoyed singing, especially songs sung in church and Christmas songs because these
songs I’d learned from beginning to end. After entering elementary school, my favorite subject was music. As a young
child I was very rhythmic and could dance with little or no effort. There was a lot of dancing in our household. I had six
older siblings- four sisters and two brothers, ranging in age from 7-14 ½ years older- and one younger sister, three
years my junior.  Picture a wonderful and joyous home with eight Smith kids! You can probably imagine all the music &
dancing – especially because we loved both. My maternal Grandfather “Pa Daddy” lived with us until he passed away in
1985. In his younger years he made money dancing, and whenever he got a taste (drink), he would try to recapture
those dance steps, telling us “Move out-dah-way, Omma show ya’ll how it’s s'pose to be done.” People used to call me
“Lil’ Pa Daddy,” seeing that I favored him and acted like him (minus the drinking). When I was eight, I and two of my
playmates won a major talent show in the neighborhood for dancing.

As I got older, my love for singing and dancing continued to grow.  I participated in chorus throughout Junior High and
High School, receiving all A’s. While in High School, I discovered that I could run really fast (although pigeon toed), but
when I tried out for track, the school spring musical audition was shortly afterwards. I would choose music over track
every time. In my Junior year, I was asked to be part of an all-male group called “Vision.”  During the Summer months,
we were a “Vision of God,” so that we could continue singing after the talent show season was over.  I graduated from
High School in 1980. During the early 80’s I got “Boogie Fever” and turned the dance nightclub life out!

I gave my life to Jesus Christ and got saved May 1985, yet I didn’t stop dancing, I just changed partners. At that time, I
was part of a Holiness church and had some challenges because I grew up Baptist. At our Baptist church, most of our
expressions of praise outside of singing and clapping our hands was a big “Yes!” Every now and then, when the Spirit
was really high, some of the sisters in church would go into a “Yes” fit-- they’d get stiff and the ushers would carry them
out of church. At the Holiness church we used to do the “Holy Dance” (mine was a lot, not a little out-of-whack). Several
ushers would have to form a circle around me. Every Sunday all the young people used to wait on me to dance so that
they could laugh and tease me after church. Before salvation, I would have probably cringed and stopped dancing. If I
could do silly dancing before many people in the world, being a total spectacle to strangers, most certainly I was not
going to be ashamed of dancing before my Saviour- letting a little bit of teasing stop me. Truth be told, it was a whole lot
of teasing, but I was fearless before my Father. I graduated from doing the “Holy Dance” to “Falling Out” to “The Spin”
then to “worship with my hands.” In all of these expressions of praise exemplified, I sensed God’s pleasure. They didn’t
know what to think of me at that little Holiness church. The head Deacon would say “Bro’ PT (that’s me) can have
church all by his self.” I met up with some of the people that used to go to that Holiness church at a birthday celebration
in 2004. They teased me about “The Spin.” I went home that evening and inquired about “The Spin” to the Lord. The
Lord spoke to my spirit and said, “I Am the Potter and you are the clay, and I was molding you as yarn on a spindle into
the image you are today.”

Since I’ve changed partners, I’ve been Praise & Worship Leader, directed several choirs, and served as Minister of
Music. That in itself was a miracle- considering the only musical instrument I play is the tambourine. Now as Pastor, I still
get my praise on- actually even more so! For the Lord’s pleasure, I even praise Him with banners and streamers and
flags, and I work em’ too!

I know and understand that I am called to worship! Worship is an expression of gratitude from my innermost being to my
Lord. Worship IS my life - as noted from the below scriptures from the Amplified Bible:

"A time will come, however, indeed it is already here, when the true (genuine) worshipers will worship the Father in spirit
and in truth (reality); for the Father is seeking just such people as these as His worshipers."
John 4:23

"When he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers to sing to the Lord and praise Him in their holy [priestly]
garments as they went out before the army, saying, Give thanks to the Lord, for His mercy and loving-kindness endure
forever! And when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushments against the men of Ammon, Moab and
Mount Seir who had come against Judah, and they were [self -] slaughtered"
I Chronicles 20:21-22

"Praise Him with the tambourine and [single or group] dance; praise Him with stringed instruments or flutes! Praise Him
with resounding cymbals; praise Him with loud clashing cymbals! Let everything that has breath and breath of life praise
the Lord! Praise the Lord! (Hallelujah!)"
Psalm 150:4-6

I issue a challenge to every Pastor and especially the men:
Will your dancing partner become Christ?

Let us always worship our God, giving praises to our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ!
