Why I Dance for Jesus
A powerful song by Philips, Craig & Dean entitled "Let the
Worshippers Arise" is wonderful. When I heard it, in my vivid
imagination, I saw worshippers arising the world over, truly
every tribe, every tongue, every age. worshipping the One True
God.  Soon thereafter, our great God gave me a vision: He
placed a scripture in my heart, confirmed this vision &
scripture again after my teaching session at Dancing
Preachers International in the Bahamas in August of 2006,
and then in my prayer time. I consulted with our Editor,
Rekesha Pittman & shared with her what the Lord laid on my
heart - for
Company Keepers to do another ”Special Edition”
featuring the Joshua Generation.
The entire January 2007 issue features articles by this wondrous generation of worshippers,
arising in our midst, yet seemingly ignored by many.  They will lead the way for us to go into this
year that will bring many changes. They will bring us a relevant word to start the New Year off
right.  Similar to Joshua when he spoke unto the people when Moses died, delivering what thus
saith the Lord, “Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you."
Study this Book of the Law (Bible) continually. Meditate on it day and night so you may be sure to
obey all that is written in it. Only then will you succeed. I command you- Be strong and
courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you
go."  (Joshua 1:1-18 NLT)
Will you choose the red pill or the blue pill?
Will you choose McDonalds or Burger King?
Will you go to college or get a job?
Do you want Popeyes or KFC?
Will you pay for Cable or Direct TV?

You have the choice to either read this article or scroll
down to the one with the best looking pictures.

What will you choose?
by Te’ressa Washington
Choice is powerful. It is the ability to select something that will cause harm or health. It is explained as the mental
process of thinking involved with the process of judging the merits of multiple options and selecting one for action on
wikipedia.com.  Simple examples can involve deciding whether to get up in the morning or go back to sleep, or selecting
an outfit to wear for the day. Many people generally regard having choices as a good thing. But a severely limited or
artificially restricted choice can lead to discomfort with choosing or even to unsatisfactory outcomes. On the flip side,
unlimited choices may lead to confusion, regret of the alternatives not taken, and indifference in an unstructured
existence (that is to say having an uncaring attitude or lack of interest in the midst of a place or state of disorganization
and disorder or being in so deep you just don’t care anymore); and the illusion that choosing an object or a course
leads necessarily to control of that object or course can cause psychological problems.

Now most of us want to make the right choices even though the spirit of rebellion runs rampant (something I won’t get
into right now). So ask me, how do I make good choices without having psychological problems, giving up, or being
dissatisfied with whatever choice I made?

I’m so glad you asked. There is a thing in the world of psychology called Choice Theory which explains our behavior or
the choices we make are a result of the way we think.  This very theme is attested to in this scripture, “For as a man
thinks in his heart, so is he.” (Proverbs 23:7).

We must be careful what we put in our hearts (minds) because out of it are the issues of life, as stated in Proverbs 4:
23. Think about this: whatever you eat not only has an affect on you (literally & figuratively), it also has the ability to
affect those around you and those who come in contact with you (literally & figuratively). It could be gas, halitosis, or a
desire to eat the same thing. For example, if you ate tuna, garlic and onions not only would you smell yourself, others
would smell you just as well and may attempt to stay as far away from you as possible. Why? Because what you eat has
the potential to reek through your pores. That is to say that not only do the choices you make affect you, they affect
those around you and those who will come in contact with you.  Correspondingly, if you choose to spend a lot of time
praying, fasting, worshipping YHWH, reading and studying His Word and practicing it daily through your lifestyle, it will
show and will most definitely affect your mind, the choices you make and those who come in contact with you.

Likewise, if you choose to spend your time gossiping on the phone, playing video games, listening to corrupt, foul, and
diabolical music, and watching even more corrupt, foul and diabolical things on television, movies, and videos (you
know which ones I’m talking about), it’s going to reek through you and it will most definitely affect your mind, the choices
you make, and those who will come in contact with you.  This is why the Apostle Paul told us in Philippians 4:8 to think
on things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report, virtue, excellence, and worthy of praise.

Why? Because our behavior (the way we choose to act) is based on the way we think. If we have corrupt thoughts we
will make bad choices; just as well, if we have righteous thoughts we will make good choices. This is why we must have
the mind of Christ Jesus as the apostle Paul said in Philippians 2:5.

We’ve got to keep in mind that every choice we make has a consequence, whether good or bad. We must think clearly
and ask the Holy Spirit for guidance in all that we endeavor to say and do. We must have an ear to hear and heed
sound advice from the wise ones, i.e., older, mature, and experienced Saints like your parents, teachers, mentors,
mothers, pastors, or someone who has gone where you are trying to go. As the Word says in Romans 15:4, “The
things written afore time was written for our learning” and there are scores of examples of choices and consequences
recorded in the Bible.

Here are a couple of examples:
Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah had to choose between obeying the law King Nebuchadnezzar set regarding bowing
and worshipping the golden image or disobey his law and end up in a blazing fiery furnace.  Because of their excellent
choice they were surely protected from burning to death. (Daniel 3)

Saul had a choice of listening to what God said or listening to the people and because of his choice to disobey God he
ended up being abandoned and rejected by God.

The most important historical choice made was the choice of whose will would overthrow the other. The man who had
this tremendously vital, extremely crucial, and essentially momentous choice was none other than our Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ. He had the choice of being obedient to the Father and completing this assignment given to Him – coming
to earth to save us or to say “skip this! These people aren’t even worth it! They don’t deserve to be forgiven, they
don’t deserve my love! I could go and do my own thing and not have to suffer death on a cross for their sins! If they
want to be blind let them stay blind! Let them stay in their filthiness! Even to hell with them!" (And I’m not cussin’)

Thank Almighty God that He didn’t kick us to the curb! Instead, Jesus loved us so much He surrendered His will to the
Father and said “…Nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.”  Because of His wonderful choice to be obedient we
have eternal life! We are saved from going to a devil’s hell! We are able to do the things we do for Him!

So with all this in mind, what will you choose?

~ Will you choose life or death?

~ Will you choose to
be consistent and faithful or choose to be lazy and procrastinate?

~ Will you choose to be
obedient to the Word or will you be disobedient?

~ Will you
wallow in self pity, discouragement and doubt or will you rejoice, trust, worship, and rest with assurance in
God’s Word?

~ Will you
dance with purpose, power, and victory or will you entertain, seduce, and fall?

~ Will you let the
fruit of the Spirit richly abound in you or will you allow the works of the flesh to manifest and
control you?

~ Will you be
healed, delivered, made well and abundant or will you stay sick, blind, and deficient?

There are so many choices that must be made in your life but no one can make them other than YOU.  Remember
Ecclesiastes 12:14 “…God shall bring every work into judgment with every secret thing whether it be good, or whether it
be evil.  AND because you can’t serve two masters, choose this day who you will serve (Joshua 24:15).

Know that I love you and I’m continuously praying that you will…
choose wisely.

Dance Is More Than…
by Jade Queen (pictured to the right)
Dance: It’s more than a word.
         It’s more than a verb.
                 It’s more than an action.
                         It is a gift.
So many people overlook the true meaning of what dancing for God
is. They think that you just dance with “different” music. But in all
actuality, it has nothing to do with just dancing. It’s worshipping.

Dance is probably one of the most important things in my life, and it
is my passion. I love to dance, because it brings me a joy that I can’t
keep to myself. When I dance, I get this peace within me, no matter
what is going on around me. It is so indescribable and just puts me
in awe. Every time I dance, I feel like I am at the throne of God, and I
can feel His presence all around me.
Jade Queen is a precious and beautiful 14 year old dancer.  She lives in Asheboro, North Carolina and attends Asheboro High
School and is a member of Central United Methodist Church.  Her parents, Angie and Bret are Christian rock musicians, with the
rock band Thyrst, instilling a lifestyle of worship in their daughter.  Jade has 1 brother, Alex.  Jade recently began a dance ministry
at her church.  Minister Lynn Bullock uses Jade frequently as an assistant dance teacher at Sacrificial Praise Dance Academy
(SPDA) where Jade teaches the 5-7 year olds. Jade is also the captain of the Junior Ministry Team at SPDA.  Under the tutelage
of Minister Lynn Bullock, Jade has taught at a dance workshop, as well as assisted Minister Lynn in her frequent travels at dance
workshops and conferences.  She worships the Lord in liturgical dance, pageantry (flags, banners, streamers) and song.

Hi, I'm Dante and I love the Lord.  Sometimes people ask me,
“Why do you love the Lord?” I think, think, and think but, I
somehow can’t figure out why I love the Lord.

On December 27, 2006 one of my teachers asked me the same
question that others have asked, which is, "Why do you love the
Lord?"  She told me to put it in writing so that other young people
all over the world can see- that she herself has experienced the
power of the Holy Ghost in my dance and she knew that I would
have something to say since I’ve been dancing since age 4.  So I
read my Bible. I read from Genesis to Leviticus and suddenly
something popped up in my head. I found out why I really love
the Lord. I really love the Lord because He died for us on the
cross and He blesses people, and He is amazing!

I LLLOOOVVVVEEE my Savior.

The Lord is the only thing that I love, but I also like to dance.  I
attend New Birth Missionary Baptist Church and there's about
40,000 members in the church. The effect of my dance in the
church is plenty of people ask me a lot of questions when I
minister.  It's like I’m a star in church.  How is that with so many
members?

Anyway, the top question that people ask me is, "Why do you
dance?" My answer to them is because some teachers at my
school sometimes tell me that I can't do things. So instead of
disturbing the classroom and disrespecting my teachers, to get
rid of my anger I dance. Dancing is great for a MAD BLACK
MAN!!!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:  Minister Cynthia Dempsey, graduate of Eagles International Training Institute, loves the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY with all her substance
and uses every gift and talent HE has given her to glorify and worship Him in spirit and in truth.  She is married to Horace Dempsey and they have three precious
daughters.  She serves as Christian Education Coordinator/Chapel Teacher at a private school; writes the yearly curriculum, teaches chapel weekly and in 2006
created an original Vacation Bible School Curriculum.  She has been saved since she was a young girl and dancing since age four.  She is an attorney and as
part of her practice, provides legal counsel and Godly wisdom to dance schools and companies, liturgical dance ministries, performing arts corporations and
other arts related individuals and organizations.  She has more than 15 years liturgical dance experience as a minister of dance, choreographer, instructor of
youth, teens, and adults, and a workshop and seminar speaker.  She is a member of the Jericho City of Praise (JCOP) under the anointed and prophetic
leadership of Apostle Betty P. Peebles, D.D., Senior Pastor. Cynthia serves as the JCOP Dance Ministry Administrator.  She also serves on the Board of Directors
of two non-profit arts organizations.
Don't you see that children are GOD's best gift? The fruit of the womb His generous legacy?
Like a warrior's fistful of arrows are the children of a vigorous youth.
Oh, how blessed are you parents, with your quivers full of children!
Your enemies don't stand a chance against you; you'll sweep them right off your doorstep.

                                                                                        (Psalm 127:3-5, The Message)
You should dance for Jesus, because you do not want to be dancing for the wrong reason.  It is in the Bible (II Sam. 6:
14 and Psalm 149:3).  God said dance for Him. I love dancing for Jesus.
Grace Bullock, age 7

I like dancing for the Lord because He loves to see us dance for Him. He is the Lord. He loves to see how good He has
created us in dancing. He is proud of us for dancing for Him and being a part of Him. The Lord loves us for who we are,
and that is for being a good Christian and telling people about the Lord by dancing. He is so proud of us for dancing for
Him to tell people about Him. That is why I like dancing for the Lord.
Brianna Kendrick, age 9

I want to dance for God so that I can worship, praise, and glorify Him.  It is also a great witness to the lost people. I like
to dance at my house but I don’t know how to do a split and I do not know how to do a lot of dance things.
Elisabeth Leake, age 9

I dance only for Jesus because the Bible tells me so. Also it’s fun at the same time. We also dance at block parties to tell
everyone we are all dancing for Jesus.
David Bullock, Jr., age 9

I dance for Jesus because He created me. I dance because it is a way of worshipping Him. Dancing is fun, because you
can dance for Him. I love to dance for Jesus. I love to dance for Jesus, because He is amazing and very important. I
dance for Him because it brings people to Christ. I dance because it shows I love Him. I love to dance for Jesus because
it shows people that it is very fun to worship Him. That’s why I dance for Jesus.
Ciera Roberts, age 10

I dance for Jesus because it’s fun. It’s fun because I get to be with people I know and love. Also, I get to tell people more
about Jesus. It makes me feel good that people learn more about God. Others get to join the dance school. The outfits
are very comfortable and pretty. I’m happy to be in dance. It really stretches you out. It hurts at first but you get used to
it.
Gayle Bullock, age 10

I dance for Jesus because I love to glorify, honor and praise Him in dance. I like to dance for Jesus at home with my
sisters. Jesus tells us to dance anyway. I like the music, too.
Priscilla Leake, age 11

I dance for Jesus because I can praise Him through it. I can also witness to people by dancing for Him. I’ve been dancing
for 7 years and I started out in a dance academy that was very worldly, and the older you got, the more showy the
outfits were. I didn’t like that, so I started taking dance at a Christian dance academy. I liked it there, but then my mom
found Sacrificial Praise Dance Academy, so I wanted to take dance there. I am now there for my second year and I love
it at this dance academy because Ms. Lynn has taught me that you can praise God in the dances and worship Him
through it.
Chasity Leviner, age 12

I dance for Jesus to give him glory, praise, and honor. It says in the Bible that they praised Him with the dance
(Psalm149:3, Psalm150:4) and that is what I do. I dance to worship God in all I do.  When I dance for Jesus I want
people to know that I am a child of God and I want them to know that I am praising God through the dance. I want to
dress modestly and not show off and try to make me look so great. When I dance I want my movements to be honoring
to God and I want the music to give praise to God. I want it to be that in everything I do in the dance it would be pleasing
in the sight of God.
Hannah Leake, age 13

I dance for Jesus for many reasons, but the main reason I dance for Him is to show Him that I love Him. Jesus has done
so much for us. He gave His life for us, and He helps us through everyday trials. Since Jesus has done all this (and He’s
still doing more) the least I can do is glorify Him, and I choose to glorify Him by dancing. I really enjoy dancing, but I love
it even more when I’m doing it for Jesus.
Brianna Roberts, age 13
The writers of above are all students of Sacrificial Praise Dance Academy & Ministry (SPDA) located in Asheboro, North Carolina.  They searched the scriptures
on their own and all of the words are what they’ve said, with no help from parents, teachers or siblings. We have done no alterations (except to correct typos) as
we wanted you all to see just what this Joshua generation has to say to us, to remind us of why we should all dance for Jesus.

Minister Lynn Bullock is Director/Owner along with her husband, Pastor David Bullock.  Pastor David is the founder and shepherd of Life and Truth Ministries
located in Asheboro (http://www.life-truth.org).  Minister Lynn is also the Director for the National Liturgical Dance Network, North Carolina chapter.  She and
Pastor David were the previous owners of Higher Praise Dance Academy in New York for about 9 years, prior to moving to North Carolina.  SPDA opened its doors
in 2000 and God has seen to it that it would be a “true Christian dance school”, bringing glory and honor to His name.

SPDA’s ministry is scripturally based on Romans 12:1, I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice,
holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.  The vision is to glorify God through the all of the arts forms that He has given us, namely dance,
but including drama, music and much more. SPDA desires to train up a technically-sound generation of dancers while encouraging each student to walk with
God, to be confident in God, and to be confident in whom he or she is. We promote the use of the arts to evangelize the nations for the Lord Jesus Christ. We
endeavor to keep the unity of the Body of Christ by bringing other dancers and leaders together to do the work of the Lord. We desire to establish a multi-racial,
multi-denominational Academy that has no walls of division. Most of all, our vision is that the Spirit of the Lord would touch all students, families and on-lookers
in such a way that their lives will never be the same again.  Visit
www.sacpraise.org for more information.

We too often quote “Train up a child…" (Proverbs 22:6), but I don’t know that we give much credence to it and live it.  This verb class
indicates an order or a command - Train. I ask all of the sacred artists in leadership positions that deal with children (parents, teachers,
etc.), are you training the children?  This is a command from the Lord Himself.  Are we all ignoring it as we’ve done other instructions given
to us? (Can someone say 10 commandments?) Are we too busy teaching our children the latest dances and trying to fit them into the
House of the Lord?  Will you set a holy standard & agree with Jesus, "If lifted up, will draw all men?" Are your rehearsals used to teach the
books of the Bible and help the young ones learn scripture?  Better yet, are all of the young people in the dance ministry at your church
saved? HMMMM!  Nothing but Christ should be the standard!!! Not the latest hip-hop dance and/or dance fashions, not the hype, not the
rap, not the step, not your big church with football/cheerleaders, not iPods, Wii, or Playstation 1, 2 or 3, and not the all too familiar quote,
“We have to bring the young people in, so we’ll use the latest (worldly) means.” I ask one question: Is all that you’re trying to do to bring in
the young people scriptural?  Throughout the Bible, Jehovah used many young people to lead nations & people at very early ages:

* The prophet
Samuel, who ministered before the Lord, being a child… (1 Samuel 2:18)

*
Manasseh, the only son and successor of Hezekiah on the throne of Judah. He was 12  years old when he began to reign (2 Kings 21:1).

*
Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign… And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD. (2 Kings 22:1)

*
Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael & Azariah - As for these four children God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and
Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams (Daniel 1:1-17)

Junia (some call Julia) who was a cousin of Paul, Greet Andronicus and Junias, my relatives who have been in prison with me.
They are outstanding among the apostles, and they were in Christ before I was (Romans 16:7).  Her name means youth – a youth well
known amongst the Apostles- WWOOWW!

If God knows what we need to do to “draw” the young people in, wouldn’t it stand to reason that we should seek Him for the means to do
so?  Think on these things.  Through prayer and agreement, the Lord has blessed us with another Special Edition featuring young Levites,
ages 7-17 as this month’s writing staff!

May YHWH bless your socks off, may your ministry be encouraged and inspired (don’t give up just yet) and pull out your tissue as you truly
see the hand of God in the sacred artists that are not yet adults!  I pray these young people will continue to give us hope that all that we do
for God will be the only thing that will last. Get insight from the writings of the Joshua Generation!

My wish is that the people I minister to will be drawn closer to God and see Him through me and experience that
same indescribable joy.

And remember: “Anyone who thinks sunshine brings happiness has never danced in the presence of the Lord.”

ministers prophetically.  He lives in Lithonia (near Atlanta), GA

only child.  He has been dancing since the age of 4.  He’s
currently taking a hiatus from dance, but has remained physically
