Company Keepers
Dance Ministry Monthly

June 2005                                                                                                                                           Volume 1 No. 2
The Lord has made our bodies so complex and so excellent for His glory; through it Jesus can shine His light for the world to see
through dance. As Dance Ministers we need to manage the challenging task of keeping ourselves fit spiritually, mentally and
physically for His Divine Movements. Thanks to Jesus, we are able to accomplish such order being in His Word, “praying without
ceasing”
(1 Thessalonians 5:17) and having the Holy Spirit to comfort and guide us, “enabling us to do all things in Christ who
strengthens us.”
(Philippians 4:13)

Dance Ministers do not function like secular dancers do. We are appointed, consecrated and anointed vessels by God to dance
His message; Therefore, we hold great accountability for His Temple -
our bodies- until the day Christ will come back to take His
bride (the Church). “You were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the
purchased possession to the praise of His glory.”
(Ephesians 1:13-14)

As we prepare ourselves to minister in dance by way of body conditioning classes, dance classes, intensives, or rehearsals, we
need to feed our bodies for such demands. Using guidelines by the International Association for Dance Medicine & Science,
dancers in general need to ingest sufficient calories during training times. A dancer’s diet should be comprised of about 55-60%
carbohydrates (
Simple = fruits and vegetables. Complex = breads, pasta, grains). 12-15% protein (meats, soy products, milk
and its products), and less than 10% fat products.

Also, according to the food guide pyramid of U.S Departments of Agriculture, Health and Human Services, a daily healthy diet
should include
two to three servings of milk, yogurt, cheese or soy. We also need to include two to three servings of meat, poultry,
fish, dry beans, egg or nuts - and let's not forget the
three to five veggies and three to five fruits per day rule. Servings of bread,
cereal, pasta, rice, sweets, fats and oils should be used in controlled amounts. The most important factor is to keep your blood
sugar at normal level throughout the day to avoid tiredness and “the jitters” by eating smaller, more frequent meals (
five to six times
per day). As a result, your body will continue to burn good fuel for muscle flexibility and strength.

As this is only a guideline for healthy food intake, it is best to consult a nutritionist to find out what type of dietary needs are best
suited to your body.
Remember: a healthful diet is about moderation, not deprivation or starvation. The Lord made us so
unique, and it is our responsibility to keep on building His Temple in us for His glory. Praise Him in all that you do!

"So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God." Romans 10:17
Dance Ministry took the radio by storm this past May in the cities of Los Angeles and Las Vegas! In the "City of Angels" on May
15th, dance leaders visited radio station
KJLH 102.3FM to talk about dance as ministry. Robin Deane, Founder of Victory Praise
Dancers & Leader of Rejoice Adult Dance Ministry (
West Angeles COGIC - Los Angeles, CA)  Monik Jones, Artistic Director of
Vessels of Praise Dance Ministry (Judson Baptist Church - Carson, CA), and
Shalonna McCrary were interviewed on the Sunday
weekly edition of
"Spread the Word" by radio personalities Aundrae Russell and Rod Amos. This was the first time in the known
history of KJLH that dancers were interviewed live on the air! These dancers discussed the vision of having the liturgical dance
community join together in worship, as dance ministry continues to go to a higher level in the Lord. Ms. McCrary and Ms. Jones
were able to submit a dance question for the "Bible Jeopardy" segment which was: "In the Bible, there is a prophetess who danced
with a tambourine and all of the women followed her. Who is she?" The answer, of course, was Miriam! (Exodus 15:20) Many
dancers called, but could not answer the question. Ms. Jones encouraged the listeners to not just "get out there and dance," but
to study the Word of God. They were also able to take live callers, listen to dance ministry 'shout outs,' provide info for events, and
promote the Annual KJLH Gospel Showcase at Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park, CA in which the
Victory Praise Dancers,
Vessels of Praise, and Zoe Expressions Dance Ministry of Whittier were the featured dance ministries on Saturday, May 21st.

In the same week, the Lord also opened up the airwaves for dance ministry in Las Vegas, NV (no longer "Sin City," but "The City
Where Grace Abounds"). On Thursday, May 19th at radio station
KKVV 1060AM, Rekesha Pittman (Founder - Rain Rein Reign
Ministries) was interviewed live on the air by Pastor Marc Hawthorne (House of Prayer for All Nations - Las Vegas, NV) during
the weekly 4-5pm afternoon radio slot. This was also the first time that dance ministry had been discussed on the air in this region.
Rekesha and Pastor Marc detailed dance as mentioned in the Word and dance garments. They discussed the role of children,
seniors, women, and men in the dance ministry. They were able to take live callers and highlight
"The Firmament of His Power"
2005 Worship in Dance Conference & Concert this coming October in Los Angeles, CA.

The Lord is moving us forward as never before in the Worship Arts Ministries. We are looking forward to seeing the dance ministry
in print media, television, and film as well. We continue to pray for grace, favor and fervor as we go "into all the world" and spread
the gospel through dance!

Dance Ministry Event Report
Evening of Praise with Day 3 Dance Ministry
by Rekesha Pittman
An Evening of Praise was offered at Glory Christian Fellowship International
(Carson, CA) on Saturday, May 28th, 2005 (Matinee Presentation). This yearly
concert was the culmination of the Seventh Annual
God's Plan... Your Feet
Dance Conference
convened by Dr. Janalyn Glymph, Executive Director of
GCFI's Dance Ministries and Director of Day 3 Dance Ministry.

With presentations by
Barrier Breakers Banner Ministry, Generation Xpectation,
Ordered Steps, IWEN (Individuals With Exceptional Needs) and Day 3 Dance
Ministry
, the presence of the Lord moved throughout the sanctuary in a powerful
and mind-renewing way! The viewing audience experienced education,
captivation and participation, as each ministry gave a heartfelt and spirit-led
offering of praise and worship. The ministries worked collectively to usher in the
Lord's Presence. What a blessing! Our continued support and prayers are with
the dancers at GCFI as they move in Him. We are looking forward to next year!

Dance the Word

Let them praise his name in the dance: let them
sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp.

Psalm 149:3

I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, My soul shall be
joyful in my God; For He has clothed me with the
garments of salvation, He has covered me with
the robe of righteousness,
As a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments,
And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
